ASB Report February-March
Position Assessment:
The Technology Department has been hard at work during these past two months preparing ourselves for the end of the year, where all of our work so far will be culminated and shown to the school. The efficient mindset that is being strictly implemented this year has been immensely helpful in developing our good habits and avoiding the stress of procrastination. For example, the end of the year video had been making steady progress save for the technical issues of the macbook. However, because the tech team had started so early on the project, we are able to account for this difficulty and, with some hard work, finish the video regardless of the setback. Furthermore, the Macbook’s technical difficulties demonstrated the Tech department’s problem-solving skills and efficiency in working until a task is completed. The Tech department was tasked with setting up a presentation for Link Crew’s Eighth Grade Welcome Day event, but the macbook containing the presentation did not open, even after efforts were made to recharge it or reset its power. Unwilling to be stopped by this, the Tech department quickly searched the campus for another laptop to display the presentation on. With quick thinking and problem-solving skills, we were able to find a laptop and set it up just in time for Eighth Grade Day to commence with all of its technological needs. With the end of the year approaching, the Tech Department will be hard at work with the End of the Year events and with the training of the two incoming Technology Commissioners.
Standing Committee:
Link Crew’s Eighth Grade Welcome Day earlier this March and it was a wonderful event for the incoming Freshmen of Ripon High. I was glad to have been able to participate in a few aspects of this event, these being the Technological elements of it, a club presentation for the Rock and Roll Club, and being in Link Crew to help supervise and answer questions for the Eighth Graders. I was glad to be able to help with this event because I got to meet our future classmates and see some interesting presentations from other programs across our campus. I think that this event is very important for our incoming freshmen because they get to explore high school and familiarize themselves with their future environment. It can be quite jarring to go from elementary school to high school, so it is crucial for them to have this experience of being welcomed to the school.
Special Committee:
With The Challenge approaching quickly with the end of the school year, I am glad to say that I was given the opportunity to be a part of the Gift to Campus Committee. In this committee, we planned what we would do for the campus in the weeks leading up to and the week of The Challenge. We planned to put up handmade posters to decorate the school and make announcements for all students to feel welcome at the event. Given that The Challenge is an event meant to show appreciation to all who support ASB in its endeavors, it is integral that everyone on campus knows about it. For that to happen, we need good publicity that will attract attention. We planned to do this by hand making posters to add a personal touch to our promotion.
Mentorship Evaluation:
Dilawar has shown immense growth as a leader and his hard work has paid off in these last months. Working with him has been a much more efficient and pleasant experience in comparison to last semester because of his initiative and drive to improve himself. I’m glad to have been his mentor this year because it has been a great experience to see him and all of his hard work. To be completely honest, I find myself looking up to his dedication and admiring his ability to work for what he is passionate about. I’m looking forward to another great quarter with Dilawar and I can’t wait to see how he finishes off the year.
Concern/Change:
I’m glad to see an increased connection among the students in Leadership, as has been demonstrated in the class’s inside jokes and fun moments. I think that one concern worth sharing in this report is my concern regarding the inevitable stress that will come with executing The Challenge. Some frustrations and stress have already been seen in our preparations for The Challenge, so I think that we need to look out for frustrations amongst ourselves during our upcoming preparations as well.
Positive Comment:
I think it’s wonderful that the Leadership class has grown so close and comfortable with each other. People that I had never seen previously conversing with each other are talking and showing comfort in the classroom. This is a wonderful improvement from the beginning of the year when the close proximity in the classroom was causing contention amongst us. I still remember the quote from Anthony Sausedo my freshman year that said, “Cherish the Weird Moments.” I still try to live by that lesson every day, and I’m glad to see it being applied two years after his graduation.
Core Principles:
I’ve known many people in high school that have struggled with finding their place in the great cacophony of groups and alliances of our campus. As such, I always try to embody our “Your Puzzle Piece Matters” core principle to show people that they matter and that there is always somewhere that they can fit in. I’ve realized recently that there are some people close to me that I don’t know very well. So, I will be working to improve my relationships with these people and get to know them better. I think it will be a good experience for me to get out of my social comfort zone and improve my friendships.
My Impact:
During Gallery of the Arts, I had the pleasure of performing in three different events. I was able to sing in the Encore Choir, play the viola in our orchestra, and play the bass guitar in Ripon High’s jazz band. I want to have an impact on people that encourages them to follow their passions and interests, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem. Music has gotten me through some of the toughest times of my life, and I wouldn’t give anything for it. If music has even a chance of doing the same thing for others, I want to make an impact by carrying it with me everywhere I go.

ASB Report January 2024
Position Assessment:
During this beginning of the semester, the Tech Department has begun editing the end of the year video early–something that I hope to carry on in future years to avoid the stress that comes from procrastination. Additionally, we have been hard at work recording a lot of winter sports, and the sports that we have not been able to film due to weather conditions we are scheduling dates to record. Personally, I have recorded clips for both girls and boys wrestling and girls basketball, but my schedule has been restricted due to Ripon High’s production of “Little Women.” The technology department also enjoyed the opportunity to play music at the most recent Winterfest kickoff rally. Winterfest was full of opportunities for the tech department to display its abilities as we played music in front of the school on any day that the weather cooperated. This was really uplifting for both us and our fellow classmates because we got to play rally music that has been curated by Spencer Redula to improve spirit at the school. Overall, the tech department has been establishing some strong guidelines for next year by reforming our traditional ways to reduce stress and keep a consistent workload.
Standing Committee:
Link Crew applications are due very soon, as well as tryouts. As such, I have been working on my application for Link Crew so that I can work to be a part of that program and help to make the school a welcoming and comfortable place for anyone who comes. I have been a part of Link Crew for this past year and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There were a lot of incoming freshmen that recognized me from around campus after the first orientation and they were open to asking questions about where classes were or things about high school. I enjoyed helping them because I remember being a freshman and being worried about all that was to come with high school. So, I hope to continue being a part of Link Crew so that I can continue to help people through Link Crew events.
Special Committee:
The Mental Health Committee has published its first mental health journal/healing book. I’m glad to say that I have been a part of this committee and I wrote a chapter within it. That being said, I would like to praise all of the people that worked on the journal, making designs and coming up with ideas to create something that will hopefully help teenagers for years to come. This committee has been hard at work figuring out the logistics of what will happen further with the journal. As of right now, the journal is live and available for purchase, so we are left with the task of figuring out how to get this book out into the public.
Mentorship Evaluation:
During the second semester, Dilawar and I are working toward becoming more self-sufficient and independent in the classroom. The first semester in Leadership was enough to let us each get our bearings, but we need to work on our participation and work ethic. Because both of us struggle in this way, I intend to utilize the Mentorship assignments as opportunities to grow and learn so that each of us can fix our problems and work on our own. Dilawar has been very understanding of what I’ve told him regarding this new philosophy, so I cannot wait to see what happens.
Concern/Change:
I think that we need to put some more emphasis on holding people accountable for smaller assignments. There can at times be a lack of commitment in our program, but how are people supposed to exercise commitment when they are not expected to practice it? I think that we should practice committing ourselves to our small projects to that we can all know how to truly prioritize and commit ourselves to things.
Positive Comment:
I would like to praise Alizeh and Alana for their incredible work this past month. Both of them are presidents of the Drama Club and they’ve been working so hard to get our production going while also keeping up with all of their Leadership responsibilities. I’ve never seen anyone able to balance school and running a project of that scale with little advice from adult faculty.
Core Principles:
This past month, I have been working further to exercise the principle of “Be Impeccable.” This past month has been bombarding me with tasks from acting in the Drama Club production and applying for both Leadership and Link Crew positions. So, I have been working on my own resilience and responsibility. Our core principles are expressed in a sticker that I keep in my backpack and it often reminds me of what I want my legacy to be. So, I hope to allow this stress to make me stronger and more impeccable.
My Impact:
I have always wanted a big part of my legacy to be encouraging others to pursue passions through art. During the Drama Club production of “Little Women,” I had the opportunity to do this by playing three characters in the musical. I encouraged many of my classmates to come see the show and participate in it, and I was very glad to see that we had many more new people participating in the club than last year. I will continue to encourage people to pursue their passions, whatever those passions may be, and I hope to some day provide fellow students with opportunities to share these passions.

Position Assessment:
A lot has happened since the last ASB report so the tech department has been hard at work on many videos, recordings, and setups for rallies and other events. The Dude Be Nice event, as well as the spirit days and rallies that surrounded it, provided the tech department with many opportunities to share positive messages with the school through videos. We recorded and edited the MyIntent Project video as well as the Gratitude video, which was shown at the Dude Be Nice rally. I was glad to learn the basics of editing for the school such as how to add transitions and titles that add some variety to the visual effects of the video. Deep has also been teaching me some tricks that can really help the technology at Ripon High run more smoothly and professionally, which I greatly appreciate. At the many rallies that have been held over the past few months, the tech department has been taking turns running music and recording so that we can all equally share experience with each of our roles so that we are all well-rounded in our technology skills. Additionally, the tech department has made videos to help with other leadership activities such as our efforts to support Hughson High school during their difficult time and our fundraising effort. Recently, the Tech Department set up the sound system for the warm and fuzzy night rally, which was very fun for us because it gave us a new environment to set up the sound system other than the North gym. We also aided Yearbook in their recent rally, at which we managed their slide presentation and their music for the senior superlative announcements.
Special/Standing Committee:
In the later part of October I had the amazing opportunity to host two students from Kyoto for the Kyoto committee during the Kyoto cultural exchange. Although this was slightly challenging at times due to a slight language barrier and their jetlag, it was one of the most fun and uplifting experiences that I have ever had. I was able to learn about their culture and customs as well as introduce some of our American culture to them. We quickly became good friends despite our language barrier. Although the event was relatively short, we had what felt like a lifetime of experience with our new friends. I think that the Kyoto committee did a great job advertising the event because everyone on campus was very friendly and welcoming to the new students.
Mentorship Evaluation:
Dilawar and I had some good conversations during the most recent mentorship bonding project. We have been working on our work ethic skills together and we hope to grow as leaders together. I was very pleased with how comfortably we were able to speak with each other and I hope to have more good conversations with him.
Concerns/Change:
The Leadership classroom has been efficient with the space that has been given, but I do think that we should discuss some manners and politeness so that we can be patient with each other and aware of our space. I think that a good first step to being more patient and understanding with each other would be to implement some walkways in the classroom. Perhaps these could be marked with tape or some other decorative material. These would serve to make transport easier across the room.
Positive Comment:
I would like to praise Deep Singh for being very efficient and understanding during all of the rallies. He has been very patient with me as I learn all of the ins and outs of our technology and I really appreciate how he has been guiding me through learning my role in the classroom. He is also very skilled in his job in our class, which really adds to the professionalism of all that the tech department creates and does.
Core Principles:
I have been trying to embody our “Be Impeccable” core principle by becoming more disciplined in my life. I have been working on my bad habits so that I may grow as both a leader and a student. For example, I have been working hard to defeat my bad habit of procrastination. Whenever I find myself with free time, rather than slacking off on something else, I first look to anything that I can work on to improve myself and save myself some trouble in the future.
My Impact:
As we approach the end of the first semester, all of the new things that I have been trying during my Junior year have now begun to come to fruition. All of my music classes have been participating in our winter concerts and the drama club is approaching its winter performance of Little Women. I hope to impact others by inspiring them with my art and making something that others can enjoy. Art is an amazing way to express myself, but it is also a great way to entertain and encourage others. So, I hope to have an impact by inspiring others to pursue whatever they are passionate about and live every day to the fullest.

Position Assessment:
The tech department has been working on Homecoming preparations such as music review and recordings for various events crucial to the Homecoming experience. In addition to our regular responsibilities of recording sports events, we have been recording MyIntent and Gratitude videos for an upcoming rally. These videos teach our fellow students about gratitude and intent, which are both important aspects of the high school experience. Through examples provided by students, the gratitude video shows the importance of showing gratitude to others because of the profound effect it can have on each of our lives. This year, I am happy to say that Cross Country may actually be featured in the end of the year video because I have been recording Cross Country TVL meets. The tech department set up the backdrops for the gratitude video and we have even completed a few of the “interviews.” We hope to be of aid in Homecoming preparations by providing music, reviewing media, and helping in any other way that we can.
Standing Committee:
When I found myself with free time in Leadership, I went to help the pipe cutting committee in trimming pipes to be made into balloon stands for HomeComing. These pipes will be constructed into balloon pillars that will add some variety to the HomeComing runway. Additionally, I will be a part of the coronation committee as a member of the tech department. However, I have also been contacted by the athletics department, asking for me to be one of the commentators for the powder puff game at which the coronation will take place. I’m looking forward to the opportunity.
Special Committee:
I have been a part of the Kyoto committee in order to bring back the Kyoto cultural exchange program. I’m greatly looking forward to this event, as I will be hosting two students from Kyoto and learning about them. I speak a little bit of Japanese because of an independent study class I took from Brigham Young University, and I hope that this knowledge will help in the cultural exchange. The Kyoto committee has been working on making bags for our incoming students and for the people who will be aiding us in making this possible. Additionally, we will be making the final preparations to welcome the students in October.
Mentorship Evaluation:
Dilawar and I have had some valuable time to get to know each other better recently. We worked on our mentorship assignment and talked about measurable goals for ourselves. Both of us hope to achieve good grades and to improve events at Ripon High School. Dilawar and I also talked more as we cut pvc pipes with the pipe cutting committee. He seems to have gotten a better feel for Leadership and what it entails.
Concern/Change:
I have noticed some members of leadership being very exclusive of other members of leadership, which I believe could turn into a serious conflict if it were not taken care of. Especially during a time so intense and conflicting as Homecoming, Leadership cannot afford prejudice and conflict to be present in the program. Thus, I think that more team bonding activities could help us. I sincerely believe that the puzzle piece activity partly achieved this.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment for this ASB report is that I think that our recent activities regarding love languages and personalities has given us all a better understanding of each other. It has also given me a different understanding of myself and my own tendencies. Typically, I don’t believe in personality quizzes, but I think that there is value in evaluating ourselves through the ideas presented in these quizzes.
Core Principles:
The puzzle piece core principle has proven to be very present in our leadership world. Our recent activity regarding our puzzle pieces in relation to our personalities has taught me more about how we are each important in creating an image or memory for everyone. Just as each of us had to aid in solving the puzzle by contributing our piece, each of us must try to contribute to the program. Whether it be conflict or activity, we all need to add our piece.
My Impact:
I have been trying to be more patient with people as I have found that, with the stress of Homecoming combined with the lack of sleep, I have found it easier to get irritated. So, I have been trying to combat this by treating everyone as if they were about to tell me a joke instead of bad news. This makes it a bit easier for me to separate the message from the messenger. Whether it be a good message that they tell me or a bad one, I know that they could have been telling me a joke. Therefore, they are a funny and valid person that I should treat well.

Position Assessment:
As the school year begins, not many sports events have yet been held, not giving the technology commissioners very much content to record. However, the Technology Department at Ripon High School has been putting on music for events such as the first day of school and for Freshman Orientation. Additionally, Technology has been preparing for the upcoming rallies and events such as club rush that will require clean music to liven the experience for the student body. Technology hopes to make technological work such as music and recording more efficient, so we have playlists prepared for rallies and school events. Thus, we are preparing to begin work for the end of the year video by beginning to record upcoming events for sports. I hope to help in this endeavor by recording the Cross Country meets that I will be going to as well as any other sports event that I am able to attend. I have heard a lot about how Cross Country is not often featured in school videos and I would like to be inclusive of all sports on campus, in and out of Cross Country.
Standing Committee:
Link Crew put on a very fun orientation for the incoming freshmen that I had the opportunity to participate in. I was glad to meet all of the incoming students that are now attending Ripon High and answer any questions that they may have. Additionally, I was glad to serve fellow students by leading them to classes when they were lost on campus. I hope that all of our new students will feel welcomed and accepted at our school.
Special Committee:
As the Vice President of both the Drama club and Rock and Roll club, I will be assisting both of said clubs in running their tables at club rush. Additionally, I have voiced my availability to help with selling MyIntent bracelets at lunch during Club Rush week. I hope that I can help the clubs and programs at Ripon High School by supervising tables and selling MyIntent bracelets to help students remember their intentions and goals through a daily reminder that they wear on their wrist.
Mentorship:
Dilawar is a very admirable Sophomore at Ripon High School. I can see that he is very involved in the FFA leadership program at Ripon High School and I hope that I can help him with anything that he needs in the Leadership classroom. So far, we have given each other advice and aid in creating our portfolios as well as provided each other with examples on how to do things in Leadership. I believe that our mentorship will develop us both as leaders and teach us about professionalism.
Concerns/Change:
One concern that I would like to voice is that I feel that, with such a crowded environment, it can get difficult to speak with all of the voices in our classroom. I feel grateful for the classroom and I think that it will be a great place to learn. However, I do believe that our program could benefit from less side conversations or unnecessary noise in the classroom.
Positive Comment:
I would like to compliment and thank Isaiah Green for being so welcoming and kind in the classroom. Isaiah’s sense of humor brightens my day and makes me feel more at home in Leadership.
Core Principles:
I believe that we can exhibit the “Evolve and grow with change” core principle by adapting to our new environment of the classroom. Although the conditions may be unusual to us, I believe that the new environment can be constructive to us as professional leaders. By learning to stay organized and reverent in the classroom, we can only increase our productivity as leaders.
My Impact:
I plan to make an impact by bringing a new world of music to the campus of Ripon High School. Last year, I started a Rock and Roll club with one of my friends that I met through similar music tastes. I believe that other students on campus can find this similar interest with other students. So, Rock and Roll club hopes to put on an awesome show for the students during the last day of club rush. We hope that our performance will make an impact and give the students more music to enjoy.
